The proposed Weaver’s Cove LNG terminal in Fall River
would result in unacceptable impacts to the Taunton River and Mount Hope Bay, integral parts of the Narragansett Bay system. Unannounced security protocols would severely disrupt public and commercial activity -- on the water and on our bridges and highways. Environmentally, this project is totally wrong for the Narragansett Bay community. Plans to dredge more than 3.1 million cubic yards of sediment would cause irreversible loss of habitat and damage the migratory and spawning ecology of marine species, including already devastated winter flounder, quahogs and tautog.

This is not an anti-LNG campaign. While Weaver’s Cove must be stopped, to meet the region’s future energy needs, we must examine alternatives that achieve this with the least risk to the environment, existing uses, and public safety.

In spite of overwhelming opposition, Weaver's Cove has continued to move forward. Approved by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, it is awaiting review by the Army Corps of Engineers and the EPA.

This is a critical issue for Narragansett Bay.  The proposed Weaver's Cove LNG site would irrevocably change the Bay we love and work hard to protect. Sign on to help oppose this project. This  Web site has all the ammunition you need to join the fight for the future of Narragansett Bay. Please get involved. Learn more. Speak out. Together we can StopWeaversCove.
